For this new Jerónimo Pérez negra, we selected, in his workshop, his most gorgeous old aged first grade Brazilian rosewood having spectacular colours on the back and sides. The spruce for the top is Jerónimo his first grade, perfectly quarter-sawn, old aged German spruce loaded with the essential cross silk grain patterns enabling the top to project that crispy wooden percussive sound. She has a very, very loud, penetrating sound with very strong basses and powerful singing trebles, well balanced and yet a tremendous true flamenco sound. A top level flamenco negra, one of the best and most beautiful we have seen in years. No wonder Jeronimo his guitars are played by maestros such as Antonio Rey, Paco Cepero, Jesús Guerrero and Antonio Moya.

The video shows a rehearsal of Paquito González and José Quevedo ‘Bolita’ playing his Jeronimo Perez flamenco guitar on the V Flamenco Biënnale. (Filmed and edited by Felix Vazquez.)

Born in Algodonales, a small village in the mountains of Cádiz in 1978, Jerónimo Pérez started working at a very young age as a cabinetmaker, carpenter in his father's workshop. His passion for music, his love for flamenco and devotion to true craftsmanship led him to building guitars taking up all his time now. Due to his careful and dedicated construction along with his marvelous sound, the aesthetic and musical balance of his instruments and his own merits, Jerónimo Pérez has become one of the most promising flamenco guitar makers in very short time. Flamenco guitarists such as Antonio Rey, Paco Cepero, Jesús Guerrero and Antonio Moya are a few of the many playing a Jerónimo Pérez guitar.
