As played by the young Paco de Lucía. Look at the photo of the young Paco de Lucía holding and showing his Aguilera in the Aguilera workshop. We just finished restoring this wonderful, rare Juan Montero Aguilera Coral to its original, near mint condition. The back and sides of this concert level Montero Aguilera are made of old aged coral. The top is made from 1st grade cross silk grain patterned spruce enabling the top to respond in all its registers. The combination and quality of these tonewoods deliver a truly unique flamenco guitar. The deep red to brown African coral wood is harder compared to cypress. On the one hand this enabled Aguilera to make very thin back and sides, resulting in a light, vibrant guitar, producing a wonderful, powerful, very bright flamenco sound. On the other hand, the hardness and weight of the coral gives the guitar a power one expects from a flamenca negra. In addition the spruce top adds a powerful, direct and separated tone keeping its clarity when playing strong rasgueados and alzapuas….the expertise of Juan in building high level concert flamenco guitars for more then 50 years and the tonewoods used for this concert coral deliver a unique combination of a rare powerful, bright sound and a tone that is both focused, loud, dry, crispy and lyrical…a very touching guitar for a serious flamenco guitarist.
